Analisis Tebal Lapis Tambah (Overlay) pada Runway Eksisting di Bandar Udara Juwata Tarakan
Abstract
Juwata Tarakan Airport, located in Tarakan City, North Kalimantan Province, is a strategic airport in Indonesia, serving as a crucial gateway for passenger and cargo mobility. However, its runway has undergone significant wear due to intensive usage and various weather conditions. With the increasing number of flights, the runway's structural quality has deteriorated, exacerbated by standing water issues during rain that increase the risk of aquaplaning. The last runway overlay was done in 2016, and with its design lifespan nearly over, urgent repairs are needed to maintain safety and operational efficiency. This study aims to analyze the current runway surface conditions, determine the appropriate overlay thickness requirements, and provide technical recommendations for improvements to enhance the runway's quality and capacity at Juwata Tarakan Airport.
