Workshop Teknik Pembimbingan Dalam Penyusunan Karya Ilmiah Remaja bagi Guru Kimia, Fisika, dan Biologi

Abstract

Teachers play a crucial role as mentors in guiding students to write youth research papers; however, in practice, many teachers still face challenges such as limited expertise in mentoring techniques and a lack of research experience. This community service activity aims to improve teachers’ understanding and competence in guiding the preparation of youth research papers. The partners for this activity are chemistry, physics, and biology teachers who are members of the Pontianak City Subject Teachers’ Council. The activity was conducted as a face-to-face workshop at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Tanjungpura University. There were three stages: preparation; presentation of material on guidance techniques for youth scientific research (KIR); also a discussion and questions and answers session. To assess participants’ understanding of the material presented, an evaluation was conducted via a post-test. The evaluation results showed that the participants’ understanding was very good, as evidenced by the fact that the majority of statements related to the basic concepts of KIR, the role of teachers as mentors, and the process of writing scientific papers were well understood by all participants. However, there were still areas where understanding needed to be strengthened, particularly regarding the narrative presentation of data and the role of teachers as mentors in KIR competitions. Furthermore, following this activity, continued guidance will still be needed for teachers mentoring students in the KIR competition to help them develop a deeper conceptual understanding
