Pemasangan Lampu Panel Surya pada Perahu Angkutan “Ketek” di Sungai Musi Sumatera Selatan

Transportation safety is a crucial priority in transport operations. “Ketek” boats serve as a form of public transportation on the Musi River in South Sumatra. However, these boats often lack adequate lighting—particularly during night operations or periods of limited visibility which can lead to collisions between vessels. To enhance safety, a lighting system capable of making the boats visible to others is required to prevent such accidents. Consequently, as part of a community service initiative, the Palembang Aviation Polytechnic provided solar-powered lights to “ketek” operators and offered guidance on their use and maintenance. The initiative also educated operators on the importance of eco-friendly energy. The program involved direct instruction and hands-on demonstrations regarding the installation and operation of the solar-powered lights on the boats. The results were immediately tested on ketek boats, helping to prevent collisions between them particularly at night and during periods of limited visibility. It is anticipated that the installation of these solar-powered lights will improve transportation safety on the Musi River.
