Abstract

This study aims to examine the standards of Ground Support Equipment (GSE) and vehicle movement in the apron area and their impact on airside safety at Kualanamu International Airport, Deli Serdang. This study focuses on three main aspects: supervision by the Apron Movement Control (AMC) unit over vehicles and GSE, compliance of Ground Handling personnel with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and applicable regulations, and the role of the AMC unit in ensuring smooth and safe operations on the airside. The research methodology is qualitative, using observation, interviews, and documentation, along with descriptive data analysis. Results show that AMC supervision still faces challenges, including non-compliance with regulations and lack of personnel discipline in adhering to SOPs. This study provides recommendations for improving supervision and SOP compliance to achieve safer and more efficient operations at Kualanamu International Airport.
